Badr Ali BadjraiEnglishMs. AninditaTo understand the true size of the obesity epidemic, we need to understand first what it really means to be overweight. Generally, doctors and nutritionists classify people as either underweight, healthy weight, overweight, or obese. These different classifications are determined by body mass index (BMI), or a measure of body fat based on your height and weight. There are more obese US adults than those who are overweight. According to a study in The Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA), in 2008, the obesity rate among adult Americans was estimated at 32.2% for men and 35.5% for women; these rates were already confirmed again for 2009–2010.The UK has the highest level of obesity in Western Europe, ahead of countries such as France, Germany, Spain and Sweden, the 2013 report says. Obesity levels in the UK have more than tripled in the last 30 years and, on current estimates, more than half the population would be obese by 2050. UK can be considered one of the most obese country among others anglophone countries. There are several major factors for this action. With upcoming new technologies and inventions such as cars, TV, computers and more new daily lives such as desk jobs, high-calorie food, and clever food marketing have all contributed to encourage inactivity and overeating. “Obesity is a consequence of the abundance and convenience of modern life as well as the human body’s propensity to store fat,” says Professor Jebb. Hopefully after many solutions from (obesityinamerica.org), you are more aware of the effects of obesity.  Many people don’t  realize how damaging obesity can be to the body and for overall health.  Obesity is something that is increasingly on the rise today and will continue to rise unless we do something about it like informing people of how bad it really is and encouraging people to maintain a healthy lifestyle.  A healthy diet and exercising two to three times a week is key to not becoming obese.  Let’s change the trend of obesity by living healthy lives and building towards a healthy America.
