Cancer can happen any part of a human body. There are more
than 100 different types of disease that related to cancer, including breast cancer, skin
cancer, lung cancer, colon cancer, prostate cancer, and lymphoma. The cancer
cells in the human body will divide and spread to the nearest tissues. When the
cells become abnormal, the damaged cell will eventually die, and new cell that’s
not needed to form cause a tumor to start. The person will treatment may

The physician will need to know how far the cancer has
spread from where it begin before the can decide on a treatment. Knowing the
stage of the cancer will helps the physician decide what type of treatment is
best for that person. For each cancer they have tests that can be done to
figure out what stage of the cancer the person is in. When you are in the lower
stage like 1 and 2 this means the cancer has not yet spread very much, but when
you get in the higher numbers like stage 3 and 4 that means it has spread more
just that area. Cancer risk can be reduced by avoiding tobacco, alcohol intake,
limiting sun exposure, tanning beds, maintaining a healthy diet, level of
fitness and seeking regular medical care.

I pick Facebook as the social media because that have over
hundred different page for cancer and everyone use it. They have many pages
that’s collect money for cancer patients and other things that can help. Facebook
help the healthcare because everyone use it and it helps with getting
information to the public faster. If a person was to put some important
information in Facebook it would get share more than thousand time in a day, if
it’s something do with cancer or any special events that will be coming up.  Facebook would let you browse and join
networks, find friends in several ways, including search engine to look for a
specific person and lot more. Facebook has recently crossed 500 million users
and is the most popular Social Networking site of the world.

Social media in great in the health care field because it
let a lot of physicians attend different meeting without even leaving their
home. It help grow business, find useful information and research medical
developments. More than 65% percent of physicians used it because they can communicate
directly with the patients or other physicians. These networks are private and
protected from other that don’t have the correct access, such as the lay public
and even members of other health professions. Many social media tools are available
for health care professionals, including social networking platforms, blogs,
microblogs, wikis, media-sharing sites, and virtual reality and gaming
environments. These tools are used to enhance professional networking and education,
organizational promotion, patient care, patient education, and public health
programs. However, they present risks to patients and HCPs regarding the
distribution of poor-quality information, damage to professional image, breaches
of patient privacy, violation of personal–professional boundaries, and
licensing or legal issues. The health care institutions and professional
organizations have many different issued guidelines to prevent the many of
risks. (NCI, 2016)

It’s crazy that social media is the platform for
patient-to-physician communication. When engaging and interacting on social
media sites the healthcare organizations can help spread the messages, job
referrals and eliminate barriers due to lack of communication. Social media is
the necessity for the healthcare industry. It’s not the answer to improving
patient engagement, but it’s a big start with communicating.
