Celebrating the wedding:• Three men come into the wedding looking to meet some women, along with have a great time. • They were having a great time as they started approaching a door at the wedding. Behind this door was a grey bearded old man standing on the other side of the door. Stopping the guest to tell the story:• The Mariner stop one of the three wedding guest, by grabbing his arm , and controlled the guest against his will with his “glittering eye”. (The glittering eye hypnotizes whomever is listening)• The Mariner also talks to the men about the weather conditions. Seeing the albatross:• The albatross arrives and the ship starts to sail agin, they praise the albatross for this success.• Good luck entered when the albatross arrived. Killing the albatross: • The Mariner shot and killed the Albatross. • Once the Albatross dies the scene became gloomy, and bad luck begins to fill the air. Encountering the death ship and losing shipmates:• The ship stopped moving the, and because of the Mariner’s actions the crew members on the ship were forced to suffer and they were deprived of water and became ill to the amount of heat there body absorbed. • The other Mariner bit their arms and was hopeful of the fact he might have been saved. • When the “skeletal ship” appeared the Mariner used persuasively questioned the women he met on the ship.• Life won in the life or death gamble of the Mariner.• The crew members curse the Mariner with their eyes, their spirits began moving out of them very fast. Many said it was as fast as the speed of his crossbow killing the Albatross. Wearing the albatross: • The sailors place the Albatross on the Mariner’s shoulders as a symbol for his wrongdoing, on killing one of God’s creations. • The curse in the eyes of the other Mariners remain.Being lonely at sea: • The Mariner describes his loneliness and guilt while he was alive and the other sailors died because of his selfishness. • The Mariner had trouble and was unable to pray or sleep Finding new insight: reverence for the creatures, understanding to the natural world:• The Mariner admires the water snakes and was immediately able to pray. The Mariner thanked Mary for helping him to realize the true mistakes of his actions and opening his eyes to all the amazing creations God gave to man. Dropping the albatross :• The Mariner blessed the water and snakes. The Mariner was inspired with God’s creation of the snakes and he prayed.• As a result the curse was lifted and the Albatross fall off.Growing in understanding and finding a way back home:• The Mariner thanked Mary for guiding him, and walking with him. He was finally able to sleep/ • The Mariner had a dream about the sky’s showering down rain, and when he woke up it happened to be raining. • An supreme force moved the ship with a huge gust of wind. • The Mariner heard the angels singing and melodic instruments playing. • The ship finally reached land. • Sharing the message, one which is frightful and redemptive at the same time: • Snakes are usually known for bringing one into evil and sin. However in this case the snakes where there to show and guide the Mariner into redemption. This opened the Mariner’s eyes and heart allowing him to pray and redeem himself with the lord.
